Elizabeth M. Williams known to family and friends as “Bessie” passed away on May 24, 2018 at the age of 96.
Bessie, a native of Wilmot, Arkansas, born to the late Lem and Amanda Williams. She moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in the early 40’s. Bessie began working for Franke's Cafeteria in the 50’s until she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she retired working for Chicago Trade Tec College in the mid 90’s.
Bessie will be affectionately remembered for her independence, open and honest opinions but especially her generosity. Bessie also had an exceptional memory for people and events.  She loved tennis, never missed watching the U.S. or French Opening and she knew all the top world players by name and their ranking. If a tennis match was on TV, she was watching it.
Bessie is preceded in death by her parents; Lem and Amanda Williams, her daughter; Lillie M. Carter, three brothers; Buddy "Cozy," Robert and Howard. five sisters: Beatrice, Rosie, Minnie, Willie Mae, and Mary. She is survived by one daughter; Dorothy Laster of California, two brothers; Fred (Josephine) and Henry (Dorothy) Williams, six grandchildren Genia and Joey of Arkansas, Phyllis of Texas, Cathy, Victoria "Karen" and Johnny of California, sixteen great children, four great, great grandchildren many nieces, nephews, cousins, sister and brothers-in-laws, and friends.
A small but intimate family Memorial will be held at Oakland Cemetery, in Little Rock Arkansas, Saturday June 30, 2018 at 11:00 am.
