Obituary:
Marc Steven Collins 54 of Little Rock, served and protected both his country and community in the U.S. Navy, S.W.A.T. Team, and Police Force for over 30 years. Born June 13, 1965, Marc lived a valiant life, full of adventure, bravery, and heroism. On October 16, 2019, he “called an airstrike on his own position“ and honorably took his final patrol ride to heaven. A class of 1984 graduate of Little Rock Central High School, Marc enjoyed the arts and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After high school, Marc joined the United States Navy and later the Fallon, Nevada Police Department. These were the preludes to his 25 year career with the Little Rock Police Department. He held membership in the Fraternal Order of the Police, the Wellness Unit, and the Peer Support Team. An avid cyclist, kayaker, mountain climber, soccer player and all around outdoorsman, Marc was most at home when his adrenaline was at its peak. From Violin to bass guitar, his love for music brought Marc indoors frequently. No stranger to live performances, Marc was known for his barefoot performances as bass guitarist in his band “Strange as Fiction.” Preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae Collins. He is survived by his son; Antonio J. Collins (Monica), siblings; Marcia Newborn, Rita Kameli, Michael Collins (Doris), Angela Harris (Louis),an adopted brother; Kelly Smith (Shirley) an adopted sister; Rhonda Cole and a host of nieces and nephews: Danielle, Chinelo, Franklin, Jr., Tracy, Ashton, Amber, Jasmine, Patrice, Bryant, LaMonica(Anthony), Great nieces and nephews; Grant, Rachel, Dillan, Joshua, Kennedy, Barry, Abigail, Corbin, Shenesia, Keithan., Jeremy, Roshaun, Andre', Celecia and two very special friends who were there with him until the very end; Michelle Renee and David McDonald and a host of dear friends and his brothers and sisters of the Little Rock Police Department. Officer Marc Collins was loved by so many, and he always wore a smile. Among his final words were, “Above all, I ask that you look out for each other. Watch each others backs, and hold each other accountable. Be the best person you can be today, and if you do that, you will make the Department better for everyone. I love each and every one of you.” His celebration of life with full Police and Military Honors will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 26, 2019.
