Willie Ann “Auntie” Lawrence was born on Friday March 17, 1950 in Scott, Arkansas to Lonnie and Thelma Murry. She confessed Christ at an early age and grew up as a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Scott, AR. During her adult years she was a member of Samaritan Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and the Missionary Board under the leadership of Pastor Reverend Bobby Acklin. She also met and married her late husband Sylvester Lawrence at the same church, he served on the Deacon’s Board. Willie Ann was a loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Although she was never able to have children of her own, she helped raise her niece Janice Marie Murry- Moore and her two youngest sisters Pearlene and Earlene Williams. She also stepped in and helped raise her great- nieces and nephews: Letice Morgan, Montel Murry, Kiara Winder, Jordan Winder, Kevin Johnson and Correal Murry. She was a mighty woman of God and always preached the Word everywhere she went. She never met a person she didn’t love and never turned away from helping others. She sponsored several families and children in third world countries. Auntie, as she was called by her loved ones, would always write letters to her family and friends and insert scriptures from the bible. She was so passionate about the spreading the gospel she even had some of her bill collectors get saved. Willie Ann loved to read the bible and watch gospel television programs and gospel movies. She also loved collecting flowers and pictures of her family and friends and she had them placed all over her home. We can all hear Willie Ann shouting now “ Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” which was her favorite saying.
