Bruce Edward " X "Brooks was born August 8, 1950 in North Little Rock, AR. He was the second born of six children to the late Homer and Josephine Brooks. Bruce confessed and gave his life to Christ at Eighth Street Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, at the age of 7. He was educated at Scipio A. Jones High School of North Little Rock. He also attended Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, and Little Rock University now known as University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Where he was an active member of the Black Student Union. Bruce touched everyone's life that has had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bruce resided in Little Rock, with his lifelong partner and soulmate, Shirley Todd. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Senior Technician and retired with well over 25 years of service. During his early years he was a member of the Gospel Group "Black J'Mani Singers."
Bruce " X " as he was often called, was the manager of the Little Rock Chief Men's Semi Pro Baseball Team for many years and a Championship Dominoes player.
On Tuesday, August 30, 2016, Bruce Brooks passed away suddenly at the age of 66 . Bruce will be forever remembered by his love; Shirley Todd, and his siblings; Vincent (Barbara) Brooks of North Little Rock, AR., Damita Brooks Casey of Sherwood, AR., Lamont Brooks of Cheltenham, MD., Phil and Cynthia Brooks both of Sherwood, AR., Shemika Nichole Brooks, and Demetric Fulks, both of North Little Rock, AR. and special brothers Henry James and Daryl Bassett.
Bruce will also be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00am at the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church located at 217 N. Hazel St., North Little Rock, AR.
