Carolyn Diane Carolina Coleman was born July 6, 1957 to the late Minnie Thomas and Tesrow Morris in Conway, Arkansas. She was raised by James and Minnie Thomas in Little Rock. Carolyn was affectionately known as “The Warden,” as she carefully supervised all holiday gatherings, weddings, parties, etc. Carolyn was a firm believer in family, and cherished all family times.
Carolyn attended Bush Elementary School, Forest Heights Junior High Schools and a proud 1976 graduate of Little Rock Central High School Tiger. She also attended WestArk Community College, now known as The University of Arkansas @ Ft. Smith.
Carolyn’s faith in God began at an early age, and continued to grow when she joined Greater Paradise Baptist Church in 1977, under the leadership of Rev. Jerry D. Black until she relocated to Tampa, Florida in 1990. Carolyn served faithfully on the usher board and as a choir member. Upon relocating back to Conway, Arkansas in 1995, she joined Saint Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Steven M. Arnold, where she served faithfully in the choir and a member of the wedding ministry. Carolyn was truly born under a traveling star as her employments took her from Texas, Florida, and lastly Louisiana as she relocated to Baton Rouge in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina. Carolyn worked for [FEMA]Louisiana Land Trust, an organization that maintained all properties/homes that were lost in the storm.
She was a faithful member of King David Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
Carolyn married John Coleman after a long relationship in 1999, and remained together until her death.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her [parents] James and Minnie Thomas, and Tesrow Morris,[brothers] Billy D., and Thomas Morris and [sister] Norine Cook.
As a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, family member, and friend, she leaves to cherish her beloved memory: [husband] John Coleman, [son] Arlando C. Nelson, [granddaughter] Ashmere C. Nelson, [grandson] Landyn A. Nelson, [Siblings] Kenneth (Danica) Carolina, James (Vicki) Thomas, Donald (Cynthia) Thomas, Sylvester Thomas, Emily Thomas, Mary Mills, Nadine Jarmon, Elleen Brown, Sandra Dillard, Ralph Morris, Luther Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
