George Gregory Johnson, of Little Rock, AR, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 after a brave lengthy health battle. He attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
George was born on June 15, 1955 to Clarence A. Johnson Sr. and Mary M. Johnson in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended Central High School, and upon completion of high school, he enlisted into the United States Navy and later received an honorable discharge.
It was while working with Arkansas CARTI he met his spouse Hazel I. Hannah. Gregory and Hazel went on to have 3 children, Gregory N. Johnson, Natalie N. Johnson, and Anita M. Johnson.
He was very competitive, and loved a good game of chess. Also, he enjoyed anytime he could spend with his children and grandchildren. He loved being “Paw-Paw.”
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Mary Johnson, daughter Anita M. Johnson, sister Carol Mosely, brother Wendell Johnson. On Sunday, March 6, 2022, his brother Clarence A. Johnson, Jr. passed.
He leaves to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy; his devoted wife of 43 years Hazel I. Johnson, son Gregory N. Johnson (Nichole), daughter Natalie N. Smith (Melvin), 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Deborah A. Johnson, brother Charles W. Johnson (Jackie), brother Raphael Johnson (Evette) and a special Father and Mother-in-law, Earl and Annie Hannah.
~ Our Pops ~
Our Pops wasn’t perfect and what he gave is what you got. There were times that we needed him close, but he was so far away
Times that we needed to talk to him but didn’t know what to say. There were times we wondered what was on his mind,
but as our Pops, he was one of a kind. But, we grew up and learned right from wrong, although he may have thought it took us too long.
We learned to do the things that we should, and we know he did the best that he could. Even though his suffering is over, we never knew it would be so hard
to let go. Too late to say “I love You,” so we pray he knew. Although he is no longer here, forever in our hearts, he will remain.
Lovingly Written by: Natalie Johnson Smith.
