Gracie Lee Johnson

Gracie Lee Johnson, 83, died Wednesday, September 8 at UAMS. She was born January 28, 1933 to Sula Caples Higgins and Tommy Higgins in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jacqueline Wherry Carter and grand daughter Kellie Denise Ford.
A graduate of Scipio A. Jones High School, Gracie embarked upon a culinary career that spanned 40 years and included positions at the Little Rock Country Club and the Little Rock Club. Known for her sweet potato pies, egg custards and incomparable potato salad, Gracie was always ready to spoil family and friends with their favorite dishes. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loving sister, favorite aunt and a loyal friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughter; Yolanda Wherry, grand daughter Nicole Ford, grandson; Valon (Candice) Neal, great grand children Zara, Jeremiah and Norah Neal,  sister;  Eloise Goss, Great Aunt Lena Jackson, niece; Melody (Rob)Thomas, nephew; Kenneth Goss, great nephews; Gino Goss and Noah Thomas; cousins; Mable Jenkins and Earnestine Phillips and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing  will be Wednesday, September 14, 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, September 14, 6:00-7:00p.m., funeral service will be Thursday, September 15, 11:00 a.m. both services will be at Christ Temple Cathedral Church, 1923 Arch Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72206.
