IDALIA CONNOR Obituary

(WATCH THE 15 MINUTE VIDEO, BELOW)

The Life and Legacy of Idalia
Idalia Ann Connor was born on May 2, 1941 to the late Raymond Carl
Mathes and Glennie Brazella Stewart Mathes on an Indian Reservation
somewhere in Oklahoma. Although there were no record of her birth,
the information was saved in a family bible
She lived in Houston, Texas for over sixty year, working for
Montgomery Ward, Otasco’s and Olan Mills. Idalia prided herself on
always looking fancy– never leaving the house without her hair curled,
lips and nails painted, and matching her accessories with her outfits. She
loved animals–from chihuahuas to birds to rabbits. She hatched out
birds with her late husband, J.P., for a while. They started with two
birds and before they knew it, they were raising over 400 birds at
some times and rabbits at others. She had a green thumb. She could
throw a peach pit out in the yard and have a peach tree growing by
the next spring. She also enjoyed painting, reading and coloring and
enjoyed the bittersweet things in life, like her last meal–ice cream and
coffee.
Idalia departed this life on Sunday, June 26, 2022, and was preceded in
death by her parents, listed above, and her sisters, Artie Mandarin
Mathes Fairfield (Thomas Fairfield) and Brazella Carolina Mathes
Sullivan (Carl Sullivan).
She is survived by her daughter, Estella
Glennie Mathes Cash (Kenneth O’Neil) and
adoptive daughter, Julie “Jules” Manis Lee
(Greg Lee); her grandchildren, Marlin Dean
Cash, III, Matthew Raymond Cash, Marley
Clarice-Ann Cash-Powell (Bobby Powell),
and Andrew Wayne Cash (Faith Mason); and
her great-grandchildren, Jeremy Matthew
Rendon, Makala Nicole Benefield, Rebekah
Æmelie Denise Cash, Emalie Rose Benefield,
Zoe Danielle Benefield and Isabella
Charlene Mason. She is also survived by
several nieces and nephews, along with
their spouses and children.
