JESSE BUTTS JR. Obituary

Jesse Joseph Butts, Jr. was born on November 19, 1953 to Jesse and Hannah Bell Butts, in Conway Arkansas. He was the oldest of 11 children.

Jesse graduated from Conway High School where he played on the Wampus Cats football team, Jesse joined the U.S. Army in September 1975. He served a total of 19 years in the Infantry, 4 in the regular Army and 15 years in the Army Reserves.

Jesse married the woman of his dreams on December 20, 1975. Less than 3 short weeks later he was shipped off to Korea for 13 months. Upon his return from Korea, Jesse was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky for the remainder of his active duty time. When Jesse completed his 4 years in the Army, he returned to Little Rock, Arkansas and his waiting wife. He joined the Army Reserves and drilled at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock.

On December 17, 1980, Jesse became a first time father to his son Joseph, on July 24, 1994 he became a father again, this time to his daughter Christian. Jesse was a dedicated father. He was very involved in his children’s lives. He was a baseball dad and coach for Joseph’s team. He also coached Joseph’s basketball team at the base youth center for 4 years, and took them to the championship the last three years in a row. Jesse coached Christian’s basketball team at Jacksonville’s Boys and Girls Club and helped coach her soccer team in Jacksonville when she was around 4 years old. Jesse was a dance dad from Christian’s kindergarten year through 12th grade. Jesse was a wonderful father and husband.

Jesse loved playing cards and enjoyed slamming the bones down on the table when playing dominoes, he loved to bowl, he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was a hard worker with an excellent work ethic and ensured his family was taken care of. During his life, Jesse worked making printing ink and as a bakery warehouse verifier, where he earned the nickname Old School. My personal nickname for him was Old Fart because
he never met a stranger, Jesse was loved by everyone. He was caring, loving, giving, and always willing to help out. He often helped out at Christian’s elementary school and the school where I taught for 28 years. He was well liked and appreciated at both schools.

Jesse loved the Lord. He had a natural gift of gab. People, young and old, enjoyed talking to him.
