(Watch the video  below created for the family and friends to watch as often as you desire. Copies of the video are available through this website.)

Joyce Ann Jones Duhart, 69, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away quietly on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Joyce was the second of four children born to the union of Willie Jones, Sr., and Minnie Williams Jones.  She began her education at Granite Mountain Elementary School. Later she attended Gibbs Elementary where she established lifelong friends who  remember her today as a “true friend” with a “big beautiful smile.”  Joyce attended Dunbar Junior High School and graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1970.  Her high school classmates remember her as quiet in speech with athletic abilities that spoke volumes as she earned a spot as a cheerleader and in the Gym Club for three consecutive years.

Joyce knew early in life that she wanted a career that would impact the lives of children.   She enrolled at Texas College and later transferred to UALR.  She completed her studies in the field of speech language pathology.  Upon graduation she began her career as one of the first Speech Language Pathologist in the Little Rock School District. She was employed with the district until her retirement in April 2010.  Joyce pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and was an active member of the Little Rock Alumnae Chapter.

Serving out her faith in Jesus Christ she was a faithful member of the St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church.  Joyce was a devoted choir member and worked religiously with the young people in Vacation Bible School. She also worked as needed with the culinary ministry.  One of the highlights of her week would be the fellowship and Bible Study with the Senior Ministry at Greater Arch View Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Family was also important to her. She supported the Williams/Coleman/Davis Families giving her input and guidance whenever a family reunion was planned.
Joyce was an avid sports fan and loyal to her Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys.  She was also an expert deal finder and would often venture out with her sister Shirley to a sale. Joyce was a wonderful person, with a sweet spirit and a kind heart. She never argued with anyone. She will be definitely be missed by ALL who LOVED AND KNEW HER.

Preceded in death by her Father, Willie Jones, Sr. and Mother, Minnie Williams Jones. Joyce is survived by her only son, Philmon Duhart III; grandchildren, Denzell Duhart and Clarence Allen (CJ) Jr.; one Sister, Shirley Smith (Kelly); two brothers, James Jones (Brenda); Willie Jones, Jr. (Annette); two Uncles, Fred Williams (Dorothy) and Melvin Paxton, Sr., all of Little Rock, Arkansas; Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins whom she adored; St. Peter's Rock Baptist Church Family; Sorors, Classmates, and Friends. As we celebrate Joyce’s life we remember the words from her favorite song, I'll run this race, Until I see my Savior, Face to face.  We honor God that she is now with Him.
