The Life and Legacy of Kevin Charles Henry: Kevin was born in Little Rock, Ark. on October 2, 1971. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Thaddeus and Annie Propps, Jimmy Roy, Bessie Carter, Ruby J. Barnes; his bonus father, Lyn Henry; brother, Karl Henry; sister LaShaunna’ Nicole Henry; and uncle, Jimmy White.
He attended Redwood Elementary School and Rose City Junior High School. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized by his grandfather, Thaddeus Propps, at the Dixie Church of Christ in North Little Rock, Ark. In 1989, he graduated from Northeast High School in North Little Rock, Ark. And, as a senior, he attended Arkansas Governor’s School and Boys State. In 1991-92, he enlisted in the Nuclear Power Training Command with the U.S. Navy. In 1993-95 he attended Southwestern Christian College. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a Biological Engineering degree.
In 2005, he met and married the love of his life, Carla Rogers, and to this union the miracle of life was given to two children, Paige and Thaddeus. Kevin truly provided for his family. He began working at Kraft Foods in Chicago as a Biological Engineer. He moved to New York City with his experience and expertise, L’Oreal hired him as a forecaster analyst; as well as Estee Lauder.
Kevin loved his family and friends. He had a hearty laugh, a big smile, and an outgoing personality with his free spirit of giving. If you knew Kevin, you would often hear him say “you don’t have to pay me back.” He is affectionately known as “Big Hen” and “Big Kev” and “Big Country.” Kevin was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and the National Honor Society.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his lovely wife, Carla Sioux Rogers-Henry, MD.; a precious daughter, Paige Lakota; a handsome son, Thaddeus Takoda Thunderbolt; his parents, Linda Propps-Garth (Buford), Jim Barber (Sarah) of Chesterfield, S. C.; brothers, Christopher Henry (fiancee Charis Moss) of Chicago, Illinois, Robert Barber (Caren) of Rochester, N.Y.; sisters, Jodi Barber-Harris (Eric) of Houston, Texas, Christina Barber-Poles of Rochester, N.Y.; his bonus sisters, Valeria Camper (Garland), Telisa Garth, FoShana Garth; his niece, Kionna Robinson; along with so many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who shared his sense of humor.
MEMORIAL service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Rose City Church Of Christ, 5601 Lynch Drive, North Little Rock.
