Mary Carmelita Jones was born on January 20, 1943 to the late Dave Jackson and Verda Gilbert in Arkansas. She was married to Macado Jones. Mary worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at the Rose Care Nursing Center, she was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Mom found magic in the old west. Whether it was a dusty saloon shootout or a lone cowboy riding off into the sunset. Her love for Western movies wasn't just about the cowboys, it was the quiet strength, the bravery, the unwavering grit she saw in those characters like Roy Rogers that mirrored her own. She lived life with the same kind of resolve; never backing down, always pressing forward.
Her hands were never idle. With remarkable patience, she poured so much love and creativity into every piece she made. Dolls with delicate details, scarves that hugged your neck just right, and blankets that seemed to melt your troubles away, each piece was a labor of love and legacy. Her crocheting wasn't just a hobby, it was her way of wrapping the people she cared about in something that was a part of her.
Life didn't always come easy, challenges showed up, uninvited and relentless. But mom never let them dim her light. She lifted her chin, squared her shoulders, and faced adversity head on. And through it all, she would somehow make us laugh, not because things were easy, but because she knew joy was its own kind of courage.
On July 23, 2025 Mary transitioned from this old life into eternity to join the band of loved ones who preceded her in death, her Grandmother; Ella Terry, her parents and her husband. She leaves to cherish her love, laughter and legacy: children; Darlita Jefferson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Tamie Lamar of Lithonia, Georgia, Billie (Anthony) Phillips of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Aline Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, David (Thylicia) Williams of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Candia (Matthew) Parham of Jacksonville, Florida, and a great host of grand and great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
