MARY M. SHAW

Mary M. Shaw 72 of Little Rock passed away peacefully on February 23, 2017.

Mary was born  December 26, 1944 in Dumas, AR to Gracie L. Scott and Robert C. King.

Mary graduated from Fields High School in Gould AR in 1962. After high school, Mary lived in New York where she completed cosmetology training. In 1967, she returned to Arkansas and later moved to Little Rock where she worked as a beautician for a number of years.

She believed in Christ and served Him as a member of West Side Baptist Church and formerly at Greater New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her devoted and loving children, Mrs. Ellana V. Kelly (Rev. Kevin A. Kelly) of Little Rock and Melvin O. Shaw (Cynthia S. Shaw) of Iowa City, Iowa. Other loving survivors include her mother, four grandchildren, Nicole Jackson (Dominique), Brittany Crayton (Brian), Erica Kelly, and Kamara Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Caden Kelly and Brycen Crayton; five sisters, Ardary Taylor, Katie L. Scott, Queen E. Scott, Sharon Scott, Janice D. Scott, three brothers, James Edward Scott, Roy C. Scott, and Evans Ray Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Roy L. Withers.

The visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2 followed by the homegoing service at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1709 John Barrow Road in Little Rock. Interment will be Arkansas Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8507 AR 161 North Little Rock, following the service. Gillespie & Kelly Funeral Home (2420 Arch 501-376-7892/612-5607) will be serving the Shaw and Kelly families.
