"A MISSING PEARL"
Mary Virginia (affectionately known as “Jeni”) Sutton Toney Ragland was born April 17, 1956 at Conway County Hospital in Morrilton, Arkansas to the late Professor John M. and Billie Faye Sutton.
Mary attended Sarah Clark Elementary School, later completing Morrilton Junior and Senior High Schools. She was active in numerous clubs and athletic organizations while serving as an officer in some of the clubs. Her favorite was the Devil Pep/Dog Drill Teams, she loved to dance, jump, and cheer.
Mary joined Union Baptist Church at an early age and developed a strong Christian faith that never faltered. She continued her journey marrying Rickey L. Toney to which she gave birth to a beautiful daughter named. Latrecia Danielle Toney.
Mary and Ricky both attended Arkansas Tech, Russellville, Arkansas where she earned a B.A. in Marketing & Speech Communications. Mary was initiated into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
Mary worked in Radio in Gulf Port, MS for a while but tired of traveling moved back to Little Rock and started a Career with the Department of Human Services until she retired. After retirement for several years, Mary was working for The Tobacco Store on 13th and University in Little Rock until her eternal retirement took place on November 6, 2024.
Mary later remarried Leonard Ragland of Little Rock, Arkansas. Mary Virginia was a very loving and caring person who gave so much of herself to those she cared about. No words but “Thank you God for blessing us with “Jeni”…..
She is preceded in death by her parent’s; Professor, John M. and Billie Faye Sutton, Daughter; Latrecia Danielle Toney Smith, and Nephew Carlos Ramon Showers.
She leaves to celebrate her life, three (3) grandchildren, Krysten, Kennedy, and Rodney Jr. Smith, one (1) brother, John M. Sutton Jr., one (1) sister, Elizabeth Ann Sutton Brooks, one (1) nephew, John Michael Brooks, one (1) niece, Arianna Gabrielle Brooks, three (3) great nephews, Carlos Ramon Showers Jr., Steve A. Adams, and John Michael A. Brooks Jr., four (4) great nieces, Sydnhe Choate Showers, Dejha Showers, Carleesya Showers, and Xavya Showers, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Services are as scheduled: Family hour 5:30-7:00pm Friday November 15th. Visitation 10-11:00am Saturday and Funeral service 11:00am Saturday November 16th. All three services will be at St. Mark Baptist Church 5722 West 12th Street Little Rock.
