MICHAEL HARRIS SR. Obituary

Michael J. Harris, born on July 24, 1962. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. peacefully passed away in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and resilience that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Michael Harris was preceded in death by his mother, Leola Louise Harris, and other beloved family members. He is survived in death by his son, Michael Harris Jr., and his children, Myron, Mikiylah, and Major, his step-daughter, Victoria Payne, her children, Dominique, and Deondre’, his brother Stanton Harris of New Orleans, LA., and many friends he considered family.

Michael served his country with honor as a U.S. Army Veteran, embodying the values of duty and sacrifice throughout his military career. Following his service, he continued to make a difference in the lives of others as a devoted employee of the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System for a decade, where his hard work and compassion uplifted countless individuals.

Michael, a man of many passions and profound kindness, found joy in sports, particularly in cheering for the New Orleans Saints. A master of dominos, an expert at texting with emojis and a pillar of support for his friends and neighbors, Michael cherished every moment discussing his adoration for his grandchildren. His dedication to serving his fellow Veterans was unwavering, a testament to his strong work ethic and compassion. Michael's generosity extended beyond his community through his monthly contributions to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Wounded Warriors foundation. Known for his impeccable style and captivating scent, he left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Michael will be remembered as a cherished friend, a charming presence who brightened the lives of those around him. His kindness knew no bounds, and he considered many of his colleagues and friends as part of his extended family.

Above all, Michael's greatest joy in life was his family. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally, their happiness serving as his greatest source of pride and fulfillment. His unwavering faith in the Lord sustained him through life's challenges, and he now rests peacefully, free from pain, in the loving embrace of his Creator.

With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Cancer team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, including Doctors Atiq, Moreno, and Patel. Their unwavering dedication, compassion, and professionalism were a source of comfort and support throughout Michael Harris's journey. We are forever grateful for their exceptional care.

Though he may no longer walk among us, Michael's spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear friend.
