MICHAEL MORTON SR. Obituary

Michael was born April 14, 1971 to Robert Morton, Sr. and Cloteal Yvonne Lee Morton in Benton, Arkansas. He departed October 27, 2019. Michael was an active member in his youth at Elect Temple Church Of God In Christ and graduated from Benton High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18 and excelled in the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) Program, where he climbed the ranks from Sailor to Officer, served in Desert Storm and received the National Defense Service Medal. In 1992 he completed his service in the ROTC Program at The University of Memphis where he also earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Engineering and met his wife, Yolanda Stacy Nathaniel Morton. The two were married on May 23, 1998 and moved to Wichita, Kansas to begin his employment with The Boeing Company. After “9/11” the family moved to Acworth, Georgia where Michael began his employment with Lockheed Martin and earned a Master’s in Construction Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University. Upon completion of his Master’s he served as Senior Project Manager with Georgia State Finance & Investment Commission, Assistant Director of Facilities with the University of West Georgia, and the Director of Engineering with Kennesaw State University. Micheal is preceded in death by his son, Brandon Michael Morton, mother, Cloteal Morton and brother, Robert Morton Jr. Michael was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, coach, mentor and an avid community volunteer. He leaves his love and legacy to Yolanda, his wife of twenty-one years, sons: Michael Jr. (Signy), Spencer, and Donovan; Father, Robert Morton Sr.; one sister, Terri Morton; three brothers, Darryle Geter, Andre Toney, and Shaft Baker; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
