MYRNA DIAZ Obituary

Turn on volume, Background music: "Ave' Maria"

Myrna Evelyn Rivera Diaz 48, was the first born child of proud and loving parents Luis Rivera and Migdalia on September 11th 1972 in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 1982 the family migrated to Hartford, CT. Where she grew up and spent most of her childhood. She was smart and beautiful also very well mannered the type of student every teacher wishes for, and always maintained good grades. Throughout middle and High school she joined the volleyball team at her school which was her favorite sport.

After High school she married young and gave birth to her only child her daughter in 1989. She enjoyed watching over and caring for kids which she always had a passion for, throughout the many years as a child caretaker this eventually developed into a career for Evelyn.

In 2006, Evelyn move to Jacksonville, AR where she worked as a childcare provider for the Little Rock Airforce Base for many years. She loved cooking, music, dancing and karaoke singing.  Her past time events always involved enjoying her family and BBQing

Very sadly our beloved  Myrna E. Rivera lost the fight against Leukemia and Covid-19 on March 16. Her mother, daughter, 2 aunts, fiancee and I were at her bedside in the ICU room when she transitioned, holding her hands, kissing her cheeks and telling her we loved her, up until she took her last breath. Her death was peaceful for her but difficult for us to witness. We was glad we could be there with her at the end, as she was always there for us. Her death has shattered our hearts. She's gone but never forgotten and will forever live in our hearts.
Words cannot describe Evelyn. Those who try would use words like "larger than life, caring, compassionate, adventurous, friend to all, generous, loving, inspiring, strong-willed, determined"... The list is long and multifaceted.

She was Beloved by many friends and family.  She was a great daughter,  a wonderful mommy and grandmother, aunt and the best sister ever. She leaves behind her mother; Solymar Diaz a.k.a. Migdalia Ramos Font Diaz, daughter; Lisa Rodriguez, grandchildren; Lissette Torres and Alexander Rodriguez, siblings; Shakira Velequez,  Omar Cancel,  fiance; Rodney Davis  and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her love.

But above all, I must say her first love was sweet' darling mom. Their bond was special above all, and always unconditional love.

The family celebrated the Novena for Evelyn, which concluded with a Rosary Recitation on Saturday March 27th. The family will schedule a memorial service in April.
