Otevee "Cookie" Smith- Waller was born on November 19, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her parents were the late Oscar Tellius (O.T.) Smith and Caroline Powell.
She was married to John C. Waller Sr. and to this union was born four children, Sons; John C. Waller Jr. and Tedrell Waller of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Daughters, Lori Waller of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Regina Waller of Nashville, Tennessee.
Her Christian services began at an early age, when she united with Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Later she joined Saint Augustine Catholic Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas and was a faithful member serving in many capacities until her heath began to fail.
She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, receiving her Master's Degree in Education. She was a Special Education Teacher for the North Little Rock School District for over twenty years, where she retired.
She was a member of the Rose City Temple 379 Elk Organization. Her main hobbies were sewing, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
God, in his infinite wisdom, called Otevee to his heavenly home, March 6, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers; Paul Riley of Seattle, Washington and Wendell Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas. four sisters; Elliot Rose-Moore of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Nancy-Jo Hammonds of Sherwood, Arkansas, Marcel Dean Henderson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Caroline Miles (Eddie Miles) of Seattle, Washington and one step sister; Delores Harper Jenkins of Little Rock, Arkansas, Her grand and great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends were the joy of her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, loving companion; Emrich Swonia, Brothers; Herman Smith, Lawrence Smith Sr., O.T. Smith Jr., Sisters; Eloise Smith Herndon, Oswald Smith Richardson and Faye Smith Labuzan.
Visitation will be this Friday March 10th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Family hour will be Saturday March 11th 11:30 am - 12:00 noon, funeral starting at 12:00 noon. Both services will be at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church 105 N. Smothers Street (2nd and Smothers streets)
